Undergraduate Teacher Education Program
Elementary Licensure
Greensboro College offers both the B.A. and the B.S. in Elementary Education. The elementary education program is housed, for administrative purposes, in the Division of Education. However, numerous disciplines including psychology, physical education, biology, history, political science, sociology, fine arts, mathematics, English, religion/philosophy and foreign language contribute fundamental insights and concepts that undergird and permeate this program.
Based upon the broad academic foundation provided by the general studies requirements of the College and intensive study in the area of licensure, the overall goal of elementary education is to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences to meet the needs, capabilities, and interests of children in kindergarten through grade six. These experiences should insure the acquisition by preservice teachers of the attitudes, knowledge, skills, and competencies required to perform effectively in the public schools.
